Caring for Your AG Quartz Worktops: Maintenance & Aftercare Guide

AG Quartz worktops are renowned for their durability, beauty, and low-maintenance qualities. However, like any high-quality surface, proper care and maintenance can ensure they stay pristine for years to come. Here's your ultimate guide to keeping your AG Quartz worktops looking their best.

Daily Cleaning

AG Quartz is non-porous and resistant to stains, making it incredibly easy to clean. For everyday maintenance:

  • Use soap and water or a mild detergent with a soft cloth or sponge.

  • For tougher cleaning, opt for a non-abrasive soft soap and a delicate scrub pad.

  • Always rinse thoroughly with clean water to remove any residue.

Tip: Quartz finishes other than polished may require additional maintenance due to their texture and appearance.

Heat Protection

While AG Quartz is heat-resistant, extreme temperatures above 150\u00b0C (300\u00b0F) can cause damage. To protect your surfaces:

  • Always use hot pads or trivets for hot pots, pans, or cooking appliances like crock pots and toaster ovens.

  • Avoid sudden temperature changes to prevent thermal shock, which can damage the surface.

Chemical Resistance

Quartz is durable but can be affected by strong chemicals and solvents. To prevent damage:

  • Avoid products with high pH levels (above 11), such as oven cleaners or strong alkaline agents.

  • Do not use products containing Trichlorethane or Methylene Chloride (commonly found in paint strippers).

  • If exposure to harsh chemicals occurs, rinse immediately with warm water to neutralise their effects.

Note: Products containing oils or powders may leave a residue, so rinse thoroughly after cleaning.

Dealing with Stains and Spills

AG Quartz handles most spills with ease, but some stains require extra attention:

  • For stubborn stains: Use a non-abrasive cleaner and a non-scratch Scotch-Briteâ„¢ pad.

  • Remove sticky materials like chewing gum or nail varnish using denatured alcohol, then rinse thoroughly.

  • For stuck-on debris, gently scrape off excess with a plastic putty knife before cleaning with warm water.

Key Tips for Long-Lasting Beauty

  • Avoid abrasive cleaners: These can dull the surface over time.

  • Use cutting boards: Prevent scratches by avoiding direct cutting on the surface.

  • Prevent standing water: Wipe spills promptly to maintain the finish.
